Episode 1 is going live...

With some huge help from our buddy Matt Gorbsky, DORKCAST Episode 1 should appear in iTunes in the next few hours. Search for it by typing in DORKCAST in the search window after you've accessed the podcasts page.

Matt gave us room on his server to host the podcast feed, and he also helped out in transferring the files. Matt also made a logo for us. Next time I see you Matt, the YuengLing is on me, buddy.

Paul and I recorded our first episode last night. We talked about The Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and, of course, Sin City.

Episode 1 also features the work of Joe Kelly. Joe re-recorded an old song of mine for our theme song, and he also recorded some bumpers, two of which I inserted into the cast. I also inserted Joe's song Sob Story which he recorded with his band, Provan. It's a great song, be sure to stick around and give it a listen. Thanks, Joe.

I'm going to start a new thread about how difficult and non-intuitive it was to get the podcast recorded and into iTunes. Look for it in a day or so.

For now, for those of you who don't want or need iTunes to listen to a podcast...

You can access the xml file at http://www.3ape.com/dorkcast/podcast.xml

However, if you use iTunes, you'll get to see the cool logo Matt did up for us.

NEXT WEEK: Paul and I are going to continue our discussion, focusing on war films (and his misplaced love of The Patriot) and maybe we'll get Paul to talk about his transit from a windows editing desk to his new top-line Apple G4. C'mon Paul, you can still right-click in OS X...

ACK!!!

I just checked the iTunes FAQ.

"I submitted my podcast for inclusion. Why hasn't my podcast been added yet?"

Apple's answer...

"We review all submissions carefully in the order they were received. It may take 1-2 weeks to review your submission."

So, no love from Apple yet. I'll post up a note when we show up in the iTunes directory.

Till then, the DORKCAST is available through many other podcast directories, including podcastdirectory.com. We've had 272 downloads from that site alone in the last 2 days...

Apparently the dude who made the Shining trailer did so as part of a contest. Check out the newsstory here:
